My Mediation Style

My approach is calm, analytical and people-oriented. I always start with individual conversations to understand how each person experiences the situation and what is important. In the joint sessions I create a safe and neutral atmosphere, in which there is room to express emotions and take steps forward.

I help parties make patterns and interests visible and guide them in a structured way to a solution. In doing so, I use my experience as a coach and trainer: no standard approach, but customization that fits the people and the situation.

Clients experience my style as reliable, careful and connecting.

About Me

I am Dr. Peter van Wijngaarden (MSc, 1967) and have been active as a mediator since 2022. From Van Opstal & Partners in Breda, I supervise labor conflicts, business disputes and cooperation issues.

My career started in business (Unilever) and later in education (Breda University of Applied Sciences). Since 2003 I work as a coach, trainer and educator in the field of cooperation, personal development and conflict management. In 2021 I completed the MfN mediation training and since then I combine my experience in business, education and coaching with my work as a mediator.

Favorite Mediation Quote

"A conflict is often not an end point, but an opportunity to re-engage in conversation."

Proud of

I am proud when I see that people - despite differences and tension - can move forward together again. For me, the moment when trust grows and agreements emerge that everyone supports confirms the value of mediation.

What parties say about me

  • "He brings calm and structure to a tense situation."

  • "Professional, empathetic and results-oriented."

Wat is de leukste vraag die je als Mediator gekregen hebt

"What do you like best about mediation?"
"The moment when people really hear each other again. Often parties come in tense and full of emotions, but as soon as space for understanding is created you see relief and relaxation. I find guiding that process particularly valuable."
