My Mediation Style
My style is empathetic, careful and practical. I listen attentively, ask the right questions and make sure all parties feel heard. In the conversations I offer structure and safety, creating space to discover what is really going on.
From that basis, I guide parties to solutions that work for everyone at the table. In this way, a stalled collaboration can still regain perspective.
About Me
I am Joke Genee, MfN-registered mediator, specialized in labor and cooperation disputes. Based in Oranjewoud (Friesland), I work as a mediator for Van Opstal & Partners. I guide employers and employees who get stuck in their cooperation and help them find a solution that works for both parties.
After studying Private Law and Socio-Economic and Corporate Law at the University of Groningen, I worked for years as a manager and lawyer within the business services sector (including AXA Insurance, KPN and Avéro Achmea) and in the non-profit sector at Slachtofferhulp Nederland. In addition, I fulfilled HR assignments in SMEs and advised organizations on staffing issues.
I use this broad experience daily in my work as a mediator. I know how cooperation works in practice and what tensions can arise - and how valuable it is to make them negotiable again.
Favorite Mediation Quote
"Conflict requires energy, but it also provides an opportunity to move forward stronger together."
Proud of
I am proud when I see that people who no longer saw a way out come to an agreement. Understanding, recovery and trust - that is the added value of mediation.

Wat is de leukste vraag die je als Mediator gekregen hebt
"What do you like best about mediation?"
"The fact that people who are completely stuck can still get back together. When understanding develops and parties find solutions together, I see the power of mediation in practice."
